The DVD features Richard Alston Dance Company performing two of Richard Alston’s recent works, his highly acclaimed Gypsy Mixture and Nigredo, alongside exclusive footage of the Company in training and Richard Alston discussing his creative journey on the eve of his 60th birthday. The DVD also features Richard Alston Dance Company dancer Jonathan Goddard, who recently became the first contemporary dancer to win Best Male Dancer at the National Dance Awards; a prize previously awarded to Cuban ballet star Carlos Acosta.
The screening will take place at Sadler’s Wells on Thursday 2 October, accompanied by a private reception and the evening performance of Richard Alston 40 / 60 at 7.30pm. There will be an opportunity to pre-order the DVD and the new Gypsy Mixture resource pack from Essential Alston.

Over 60s dance classes in Islington (Mondays)
Sadler's Wells runs two outreach dance classes in Islington for over 55s on Mondays. These weekly ballet and pilates-based dance sessions are suitable for those with some previous experience of dance and aim to improve your fitness levels and help the over 55s enjoy the benefits of a more active lifestyle. The classes are run in partnership with Age Concern Islington.

Over 60s Lilian Baylis Arts Club (Fridays)
A friendly and lively weekly arts appreciation group open to anyone over 60. Meetings take place on Fridays from 2pm-3pm and activities include talks from visiting company members, workshops, tea dances, performances at reduced rates, behind the scenes days and visits to other venues. The programme varies each term and members produce their own newsletter to report on events.

Baby Groovers
Fun movement and music sessions for babies and toddlers. No need to book, just drop in to any session and meet the workshop leader Binita Sama-Zakaria who will encourage you and your child to explore movement, music and songs in a creative workshop.
